Biography
American native Tania van Bree (née Ramirez) is an arts administration practitioner with an extensive experience in performing arts management. Tania is currently employed as community relations coordinator for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, one of the world’s premier orchestras and a landmark Chicago cultural institution.
Tania is also currently a candidate for a Master of Arts, Entertainment and Media Management with a concentration in Performing Arts from Columbia College Chicago, the nation’s largest arts and communications college.
She joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from Live Bait Theater, an award-winning community theater focusing on new work by emerging Chicago playwrights and artists, where she served as managing director.
As managing director, she successfully launched a marketing survey campaign, initiated the use of e-mail blasts, redesigned the tracking process for box office sales and managed public relations for the 11th Annual Fillet of Solo Festival.
In addition, Tania interned in the education department of Emerald City Theatre, a Chicago family theater, where she supported the summer theater programs, camps, and tours and wrote contracts, parental agreements, and study guides.
Prior to her position at Live Bait Theater, Tania completed a management internship at the legendary Chicago Theatre on State Street where among many things she managed the hiring process of the season’s ushers.
In a previous position as operations assistant for Emerald City Theatre, Tania worked on soliciting, recording, and rewarding individual and business donors and managed the production of an annual fundraiser. In addition, she previously worked in the home warranty sector of AON Corporation in a position that gradually grew into a new leadership position. In 2005, Tania contributed to the development of the highly successful Tonkawa Theatre Tribe production of the rock musical Hair.
Born in Austin, Texas, Tania has contributed to the Chicago performing arts scene since moving to the city in 1997. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance from DePaul University in 2002 and her performances include the role of Jove/Diana in Cavalli’s La Calisto.
Tania is fluent in English and Spanish, and has studied German, Italian, French and Dutch. She has a great number of international experiences, including long term residencies in the United States of America, England, the Netherlands, Italy and Austria.
